PHOTOGRAPHY IN GAMING/VR/VFX
“Photography itself is a kind of virtual reality" according to psychologist Steven Pinker - and the technologies and skills in the careers of photography/art/gaming/VR are increasingly converging. Our speakers from the world of gaming and VR focus this discussion on the convergence of photography/art/gaming/VR and the new opportunities for photographers and artists within it.
There will be opportunities to get hands on with our speakers games and VR experience at the conferences Demo Tech area.
Kris Kelly (CEO/FOUNDER - ENTERYES)
His works considers the impact and possibilities of digital media on our every day lives centering on the interpretation of emotion and creativity in digital media, intersecting new and old media techniques to create a dense rich visual language.
He has been commissioned to create a number of projects for BBC, HBO Europe and Comic Relief; and has received international recognition with My Autism and Me (BBC 2011) winning 2013 International Emmy and a 2012 RTS award.
He has created original films and digital media, including immersive games and experiences. Here To Fall was his first film. Here To Fall has won Darklight 2012 - Best Animation and the Don Quixote Prize for Best Animation at the Galway Film Fleadh 2012 and was BAFTA nominated for best short animation in 2013.
His first interactive title, Before The Blood, will be published by Green Man Gaming on Steam this Summer and presented at Capture Conference.
JAMES BUSBY (DIRECTOR - TEN24 MEDIA)
Ten24 Media LTD a dedicated photogrammetry and 3D modelling studio. James worked as a lead character artist and later technical director at Argonaut games before starting Ten24 in 2008. After 2 years of modelling characters for high end games such as Halo and Dead rising James decided to start developing photogrammetry rigs in order to increase turn around time and keep up with clients increasing demands for realism. Ten24 became one of the first full body photogrammetry studios in the world working with clients ranging from Pixar to Microsoft. After 2 years of dedicated client work Ten24 began to move away from the service industry and focus on building online content for artists. 3D scanstore was launched in 2013 and now contains over 3000 individual scans used in every sector of the industry. In 2016 Ten24 also Launched its own software, Anatomy 360 a revolutionary new reference tool for traditional artists allowing them to work from 3D photographs / scans taking the guess work out of traditional life drawing. Although James was born and bread in Belfast he now lives with his wife and cat in Sheffield.
PHILip MORROW (MANAGING DIRECTOR - WILD ROVER PRODUCTIONS)
Philip established Wild Rover in 1999, an independent production company specialising in non-scripted entertainment, comedy and reality formats and production. Prior to that, he was an executive at Channel 4, Mentorn, Thames and UTV.
He has over 25 years of experience in entertainment, including shows like: Whose Line is it Anyway? (Channel 4), The Crystal Maze (Channel 4), Todays the Day (BBC), Drop the Dead Donkey (Channel 4), Tonight with Jonathan Ross (Channel 4).
He lectures for the International Entertainment Master Class Academy, and the National Film and Television School and has served as a Director of Northern Ireland Screen.
Since 2015 Phil has also overseen ReTiniZE, the VR division of Wild Rover.
